Reply t April 14, 2009 at 3:56 pm All my babies were late…so I know the anticipating feeling when you hit your due date! Hang in there…before you know it they will be 8 years old and running outside to play without you. ;) Reply Amanda April 14, 2009 at 4:02 pm My first was born on his due date and my second was three days after hers. I know how hard it is to make it to that date and go over. Reply laurajane April 14, 2009 at 4:07 pm You’re at your due date, and so freakin’ adorable! Are you uncomfortable though? Reply Making it Lovely April 14, 2009 at 4:11 pm Oh, I am extremely uncomfortable! Reply Dylan April 14, 2009 at 4:17 pm Denise, it’s my birthday, too! :) I came a month early, though, but I’m a twin. Good luck! Reply Kim April 14, 2009 at 4:19 pm Waiting is so hard. Sorry you’re uncomfortable . You look great. Can’t wait to read of the baby’s arrival:) Reply Heather April 14, 2009 at 4:21 pm You look so beautiful! What a great photo. Best wishes to the parents-to-be! Reply Cassi April 14, 2009 at 4:22 pm Hang in there! Love that dress you’re sporting — it’s fabulous — where is it from? Reply Making it Lovely April 14, 2009 at 4:42 pm Cassi and Keri, that’s a regular (non-maternity) dress from Target last year. Reply Kelsey April 14, 2009 at 4:45 pm Sex, pineapple, and mexican food did it for me. Best of luck with that baby girl! Reply Kalee April 14, 2009 at 4:59 pm No baby yet, but you look fantastic in that dress! Reply Josephine April 14, 2009 at 5:19 pm It must be any second now… may the force be with you! Reply NancyV908 April 14, 2009 at 5:21 pm Oh, I know it’s hard to wait when you’re uncomfortable & you just want to meet your baby! I remember so clearly that period just before my first child was born, & then my amazement & joy when she finally arrived. It felt so monumental that I couldn’t believe ANYONE had ever gone through it–let alone the other thousands of women who gave birth the same day. :-) Can’t wait to hear the news of her arrival–good luck! Reply Kate April 14, 2009 at 5:23 pm Good luck, you look great! Reply Whitney April 14, 2009 at 5:27 pm Oh, hang in there. This is the roughest part. And it will all be over soon (even though it may not seem like it)! Reply Jill J April 14, 2009 at 5:33 pm I would write down your due date on a piece of paper and then go throw it in the trash. (I think that doctors need to change the due date to the due month. :) But be encouraged with the fact that you are ALL belly, and so cute! I think that I even gained weight in my nose…seriously. Reply Cara April 14, 2009 at 5:35 pm Hang in there! Both of mine were 6 days late. I was really starting to think (irrationally, I know) that I was going to be pregnant forever! The end is in sight, and babies are so worth the wait. Good luck & congrats! Reply Tracy April 14, 2009 at 5:43 pm Well, my first kid (son) was 2 weeks overdue. Had to be induced. Believe me I was really anxious too :p But now he’s 3 1/2 yrs old and is very healthy. So no worry. The end is in sight. Good luck and congratulations on your first child! Reply leona April 14, 2009 at 5:43 pm good luck. the photo is awsome. you look wonderful. Reply Nancy D. April 14, 2009 at 5:47 pm You look wonderful Nicole, can’t wait to see the baby :) Reply Vonnie April 14, 2009 at 5:48 pm Oh, I was in your shoes 21 years ago. Enjoy these next days and months. Don’t worry about anything, but remember everything. Blessings! Vonnie Reply kat April 14, 2009 at 5:52 pm oh you look cute – I love how that pic is kinda retro so it could be anywhere from the 50’s to nowadays! Reply amy purple April 14, 2009 at 6:07 pm I woke up today and said TODAY IS NICOLE’S DUE DATE! That’s in caps because I was excited. Thinking of you guys! Come out little baby so we can meet you! Reply Sherry April 14, 2009 at 6:09 pm Now that is a cute mommy to be. You look great and of course I can’t wait for a peek at that adorable baby you’ve been carrying around! Reply Michele April 14, 2009 at 6:18 pm Good news is that you told the baby to stay put until Tuesday because you had too much to do and she is listening! She isn’t out of the uterus and she already listens to her mom. Sounds like she’s going to be a very good girl! Reply molly April 14, 2009 at 6:24 pm I am so sorry, I hope you don’t have to wait too long. Reply Michelle April 14, 2009 at 6:31 pm Hang in there, she’ll be here soon. I know it’s not a lot of comfort right now, but when she actually gets here the miserable last week or two will be a distant memory. Reply Jessica April 14, 2009 at 6:38 pm At least you look adorable! Best of luck! Reply Emily April 14, 2009 at 6:43 pm How exciting, you look absolutely gorgeous. Reply Stacey Ball April 14, 2009 at 6:57 pm I love the look of this photo…it looks so vintage! This is the one your baby will look back on when all grown up and giggle. Sooo cute! Reply Kari April 14, 2009 at 7:11 pm You’re too adorable! It’s so hard waiting at the end, isn’t it??? (I agree with previous commenters, pedicures are amazing right about this time.) Take care and good luck!! Reply Miss B. April 14, 2009 at 7:22 pm Ah she’ll be here soon! You are such a cutie pie mommy to-be one of the cutest…. Reply Becky @ Farmgirl Paints April 14, 2009 at 8:12 pm Oh how well I remember the discomfort of those days. My thoughts are with you. Reply kate April 14, 2009 at 10:34 pm Nicole, I love that I’m delurking now to confess that I cannot wait for your sweet baby to arrive. I love all the content on your blog (as it is lovely, after all) but seriously– I am so excited for you and Brandon. Reply Cecily T April 14, 2009 at 10:40 pm My first was late by a week, but you’ve definitely ‘dropped’. Good luck with her! I wish you a fast and easy L&D. Reply Meg April 14, 2009 at 11:07 pm Ahhh, the dreaded “due date”. My babies never complied, but I clearly remember feeling that it was okay to have the baby and having it the next day so even though they were “late” it was always right. You look like you have dropped and very adorable of course! Reply Manda April 14, 2009 at 11:18 pm You guys make such a cute couple and you look great for full term. Wishing you loads of luck for the birth, I can’t wait to see pictures of the baby, I bet she’s gorgeous! Reply samarahuel April 14, 2009 at 11:37 pm How can you be so stylish and beautiful and still be so down to earth? I want to be just like you. I’m about 5 months into my pregnancy, and I really hope I can look as good as you have throughout these 9 months! I also hope my husband cooks me french toast and bacon on my due date! Actually, I have 2 due dates. My husband’s in the Army, and we’re stationed in Germany. The Army OB nurse said September 7, and my German OB said September 8. I’m going by the 7th because I think it’s funny that it’s Labor Day, and then if baby is a day “late,” he’s still “on time.” My mom had 5 kids and we were all 2 weeks overdue though, so I’m almost expecting that. Reply KARA SPENCER April 15, 2009 at 1:32 am Oh not long, cross fingers for the baby to come safely, I don’t know how it works in the states but here in the UK you are booked in to be enduced 2 weeks after due date. luckily my little boy came early but only after being enduced, can’t wait to see your little bundle of joy, I am sure they will be styling like mommy and daddy x Reply mribaro April 15, 2009 at 1:56 am My baby was due April 16th, but she finally emerged on the 26th! I remember doing nothing but crosswords those last two weeks (I couldn’t even read books), and was so swollen – my ankles were like elephant’s, I was REALLY looking forward to the delivery :) It’s an amazing thing! My daughter will be 2 years old in two weeks and is our joy (and fitness trainer too – I lost all of my superfluous 10 kg, without trying, just nursing, holding her and going for walks with her twice a day – had to eat more too). So best wishes to you and Brendan – sleep well, that’s the last you gonna have in a long time :) Reply Sara April 15, 2009 at 2:54 am I’ve never been pregnant before but my mom says that if gravity starts winning and your belly is pointing downwards know that the baby is VERY soon to be here! I am excited for you :) Reply Julie Anne April 15, 2009 at 2:58 am Cute photo! Baby Girl Balch hasn’t “dropped” yet, so you’ve got at least a few days, maybe several more. When you wake up some morning and all the volume that was straight out in front is suddenly a little flatter and visibly lower, then you’ve got three days, maximum, girlfriend. Guar-un-teed. Someone above hit the nail on the head…even though you are uncomfortable, puff a bunch of pillows around you and try to sleep as much as you can in the next few days. It’s the last decent sleep you will get for about two months. Reply Jacci April 15, 2009 at 5:00 am Awwww, now, c’mon. Don’t tell a sweet pregnant woman like Nicole **on her due date** that she has “a few days, maybe more”. The truth is that no one knows – not even the docs. I’ve had OBs look me straight in the eye amd basically promise that I’d have the baby that night based on my body’s signs. Guess what – no baby. Not for over a week from then! But, once the OB said I’d be a while yet, and then I showed up in the ER that very night ;) No way to tell what these little sweeties are going to do or when they are going to show up and make your life so instantly blessed :) Nicole and Brandon, I *do* hope you’ll be able to meet your little one very, very soon. Can’t stay in there forever, right? ;) And you do look awesome!!! Reply Samantha April 15, 2009 at 6:03 am Make the most of it and get plenty of sleep, if you can find a commfy place, cause you will forget what sleep is after the little one comes! Wishing you all the best, and an easy ride. Reply Jasileet April 15, 2009 at 8:25 am Lookin’ good, Mama. Any minute now. Make some cookies. Worked twice for me. Oh and I went on my due date for both kids, right on the date in the evening. Could happen to you, too! Reply bungalowbliss April 15, 2009 at 8:54 am Aren’t you guys just the cutest?? I spent this weekend in Chi-town, thought of you, and even wondered aloud to the bf if you had welcomed your little bundle. Best wishes to you and Brandon! Reply Valerie from Studio Rose Flash April 15, 2009 at 8:58 am aww, you look fab lady! I’m at the point where I want the baby out (and I’m @ 35 weeks, oh the heartburn, lack of sleep and being uncomfortable all the time!), so I can only imagine what it will be around due date! Wishing you guys a healthy baby girl! >3 Reply Melissa M. April 15, 2009 at 9:05 am I don’t think I can wait for a blog announcement! Can you Tweet the birth? ;) Reply Kate April 15, 2009 at 9:44 am Wishing you all the best. Hopy it’s soon for your sake!! Reply Jacqui G April 15, 2009 at 9:49 am G’day, You are looking really well and Brandon looks so handsome, love his tie. My son was a little late so my mum told me to do lots of long walks and low and behold he came within 2 days. All the best Reply Luka April 15, 2009 at 10:14 am Does Brandon know how to log on to the blog and post when the baby has come? Reply Mariah April 15, 2009 at 10:22 am I read your blog all the time but this is my first comment. How exciting for me! My little Hollie was 10 days late last September! But she came when she was ready and that was the perfect time. I remember feeling great through the pregnancy but those last couple weeks thinking, “Oh, so this is what uncomfortable feels like!” Hang in there and stay positive – baby will appreciate a patient mama! And good luck with the delivery, you’ll do great! Reply nikki April 15, 2009 at 10:23 am Have sex! Reply Averill April 15, 2009 at 10:25 am You look beautiful. I keep checking in to see if your daughter has arrived…best of luck! Reply Nuit April 15, 2009 at 10:35 am What a beauuutiful photo! I love the way you both look, and I can’t believe how pretty you look on your due date. Best of luck! can’t wait to see baby girl!!! Reply Robyn April 15, 2009 at 10:44 am Too cute!! You should probably go get a pedicure. I have a friend who delivered the day after a pedicure for both of her kids! Something about the pressure points in your feet…Or at least have that stylish husband of yours rub your feet lots! Reply katrina April 15, 2009 at 10:49 am As someone else mentioned – go get a pedicure/foot massage. not only will it help with the discomfort, but there are pressure points in the feet that can apparently trigger labor. Reply Amy April 15, 2009 at 10:50 am I adore this picture of you two – it looks like something right out of the 60’s or 70’s – as if it was of my parents or their generation. Did you run it through a filter to make it look older? The tones are just like an old photograph. I hope your baby comes soon, and in the best way possible! Reply Tove April 15, 2009 at 11:17 am I’m right there with you – I’m due on Sunday. I’ve enjoyed following your pregnancy along with mine these past months. Hang in there! Reply jbhat April 15, 2009 at 11:33 am LOVING the retro-style photo. You two are just too cute. But hang in there. Soon the three of you will be cute together. Honestly, I bet having sex is the LAST thing on your mind. I guess that baby will come out when it’s good and ready. (But hey, go recreate if you are up to it! It couldn’t hurt.) Reply Emily April 15, 2009 at 11:36 am Hooray Nicole! She is coming soon….We are all excited to see how it goes for you and so excited for both of you with this new start in your lives….You are in my thoughts and prayers… Best, Emily Reply Lonnie April 15, 2009 at 11:36 am You are definitely glowing! You look adorable. I’m a “lurker” also, though I’ve been reading your blog for some time. So excited for you! Reply Molly April 15, 2009 at 12:26 pm I went 2 weeks overdue with my first, so for my second child, I took a tablespoon of castor oil a couple of days after my due date, on my midwife’s recommendation, and went into labor a few hours later. Worked like a charm. Can’t hurt to try! Hang in there and good luck! Reply Sheri April 15, 2009 at 12:57 pm Any day now! Reply Ash April 15, 2009 at 1:09 pm Looks like she’ll be here soon, though! All the best. I can’t wait to read the name you choose, as you have such good taste. Reply luuvely April 15, 2009 at 1:39 pm come on baby! come on baby! come on baby! i thought if i did a little chant she would grace her with her presence…lets see if it works! now EVERYONE! come on baby! come on baby! come on baby! Reply kim de montreal April 15, 2009 at 1:44 pm oh my, you will LOVE this photo SO much in a few years. Right now it feels like you’ve been pregnant forever, but it’s so funny how quickly we forget. The photo has such a vintage quality except for the expression on your husband’s face, there’s just something in his eyes that says 2009. Good luck with labor & delivery!!! Reply Erin April 15, 2009 at 1:56 pm My best advice is this: Eat before you go to the hospital. Once you get there, they will not let you eat, even if you are starving. I’m not kidding- Eat, even if you don’t feel like it. You’ll thank me later. Reply Jess April 15, 2009 at 1:58 pm Not late, just right, in her own time. :o) I agree with the poster who said that due dates should be scrapped in favor of a “due month” or “due time” as somebody I know puts it. I hope your little one’s right time comes soon, I know (x3) how uncomfortable it is at the end and how ready/impatient you must be, mama! Reply Amy April 15, 2009 at 3:45 pm 9 months pregnant and you look fabulous! I’m looking forward to seeing your little bundle of joy. :) Reply sunny April 15, 2009 at 3:51 pm What a chic mommy-to-be you are! Hope the baby arrives soon. Reply Carol April 16, 2009 at 2:31 pm Oh, the memories! Twenty=three years ago I was just where you are – two weeks past my due date and VERY uncomfortable. My doctor decided to induce, but at midnight the night before I was to go into the hospital my water broke (the first sign that I was in labor) and just 3 hours later my son was born. It was fast and intense and wonderful! My other 3 babies were also late, but just by a few days each. Reply Making it Lovely April 16, 2009 at 4:35 pm I had an appointment with my doctor today and he seems to think I may have the baby this weekend… Reply Abbey April 16, 2009 at 8:30 pm Exciting!!!
