Honor Roll

Honor Roll

  • is quite different from what I’m usually drawn to, but it’s beautiful.

  • Less lovely:

  • (I’m filing the ‘poem lines for a penny’ trick away to use for Eleanor and August in a few years.)

  • for Chicagoland artists to paint murals along the Oak Park L walls.

  • Nominations for start today.

  • I like white walls. Really, I do! Just maybe not when they’re in my house.

My Writing Elsewhere…

  • Alt Summit is known for its great topics, friendly bloggers, cute fashion, and yes,

  • These are so much nicer than the primary-colored plastic monstrosity we have upstairs.

  • You can get for your kids. Because walking around wearing orange shoes is… AWESOME!

  • Grandma crafts meet technology with these

  • It’s a coffee table. It’s a dollhouse. And it’s a brilliant solution for small spaces with kids.

This week, a striped bamboo throw ($150 value) from Good luck!

Thanks. The grass is always greener, I suppose. Or whiter, in this case.

I think my husband will be jealous those Gabba shoes don’t come in his size!

Hi Nicole! I’ve read your blog for a while now and I’ve never commented before- hope you don’t mind! ;) I just wanted to encourage you to start the “poem lines for a penny” idea now. At least with Eleanor anyway. Our oldest daughter is 5 but she had the Lord’s Prayer memorized by just a few months before her 3rd birthday, all the U.S. presidents memorized at 3, and has memorized several other scripture verses since then. She’s just a normal kid, but they are so capable! It’s amazing how easy they can memorize something, we just go over whatever it is we are trying to have her memorize, briefly and almost daily until she picks it up.

You’re right, I should probably start now. If Eleanor can memorize a song, surely she can recite a little poem too.

I am so glad they’re continuing to paint the Oak Park L! What few murals they have really make a difference!
